Apple Announces Exciting Updates for Final Cut Pro on Mac and iPad

Apple is set to enhance the video editing experience for its Final Cut Pro users with several new updates. The tech giant announced improvements to workflow, timeline navigation, and Multi-Touch, along with support for voiceover recording and more. However, to utilize these updates, users need to operate from a Mac or iPad running on an M-series chip.

The updates for Final Cut Pro for Mac are designed to simplify complex editing tasks. Notable features include automatic timeline scrolling to keep clips in view during playback, color coding for easy identification of different clips and audio sections, and the ability to connect and edit overlapping clips connected by a single storyline. Users with Apple silicon can look forward to faster exports and improved object tracking, courtesy of a new machine learning model.

Final Cut Pro for iPad users can also expect several enhancements. Apple is introducing stabilization in pro camera mode and allowing footage to be ingested directly into a project for quicker editing. Other features include the ability to narrate and live audio at specific points in a video, a Magnetic Timeline for combining a group of clips into a single storyline, and new keyboard shortcuts and finishing presets.

The update for Final Cut Pro 10.7 for Mac will be available later this month as a free update for existing users, or for 299.99 for new users. A 90-day free trial is also available. Final Cut Pro for iPad 1.3 will be available in the App Store for 4.99 per month or $49 per year, with a one-month free trial.
